When To Use The Walk-In Clinic: We get many questions from our patients about what to do in the event of an emergency, sudden onset of an illness or minor injury. It's important to recognize the difference between a true emergency situation and an immediate care need so that you can seek the appropriate medical treatment.

Medical emergencies that are life-threatening require immediate medical attention. You should call 911 or go to the hospital emergency department for the following:

  • Severe chest pain and shortness of breath
  • Major burns
  • Severe head injuries
  • Emergency childbirth
  • Seizures
  • Bleeding that does not stop
  • Drug or other poisoning, immediately call:               Poison Control: 1-800-732-6985
  • Life-threatening injuries
If you are in doubt about whether or not you should go to the emergency room, call your physician. A physician is on-call at Edmonds Family Medicine Clinic 24 hours a day.

The following symptoms may require immediate medical attention but are generally not life-threating:

  • Sprains, strains, fractures and cuts
  • Minor burns
  • Work-related illness or injuries
  • Flu and cold symptoms
  • Earache, sore throat and fever
  • Stings or bites
During normal working hours, you should call your physician first to seek treatment. If your physician is unable to provide care, you will be referred to the Walk-In Clinic, if appropriate. Some insurance plans have different coverage requirements for Walk-In Clinic (urgent care) visits. If you have any questions regarding your benefits, please call your insurance plan administrator.
